Jeronimo Beta 0.4.0 (7)
Jeronimo now behaves like a regular Mac app whenever one of its windows is open, and its setup and wording follow one style throughout. Nothing you saved is affected.
- A menu bar app that becomes a normal app when it has a window. Open History, Settings, or About and Jeronimo gets a Dock icon, a Command-Tab entry, the full menu bar, and a Dock menu; close the last window and it returns to the menu bar icon alone. Closing windows never quits. Reopening Jeronimo from Finder, Spotlight, or the Dock shows History.
- History is the main window, with a sidebar. Activity shows the words, dictations, and recording time for today, this week, and all time, and the apps you dictate into most.
- About Jeronimo shows the version and copyright, with Licenses behind it. Settings has six panes at two widths, its title is the pane, and it reopens to the pane you left.
- Setup has been rewritten. Each permission has a plain title, keeps the name your Mac uses for it, and says what happens when you click Continue. The Fn key and Accessibility steps show a picture of the System Settings list with the switch to turn on. Setup ends by offering Open Jeronimo when you log in and Show Jeronimo in the menu bar.
- On a Mac with little free space (below about 10 percent), setup and Settings, Speech point to Apple Speech, whose speech recognizer macOS manages, so it never needs the half minute preparation that macOS clears when space runs low. Parakeet stays the default.
- Erase All Data and Settings, in Settings, Advanced, removes everything Jeronimo stored on this Mac, forgets its permissions, and reopens into setup.
- Wording follows one term list across the app: press and hold, the dictation key, the speech recognizer, and your words appear. Every control in Settings has a tooltip, and the dictionary and snippets tables say what to do when they are empty.
- The dictation indicator honors Reduce Transparency and Increase Contrast.
macOS 26 support is still untested.
